Have you looked to Jesus today?

Our dog Gabriella

During a very busy and hectic day, I found myself sitting on our sofa in our living room. The television was on and all I could do
was just sit there and stare into space ignoring the TV and the noise. The longer I sat there I began to feel like someone was staring at
me. My mind kept assuring me that there is no one else in the room with you. No one is staring at you Julie. But the feeling persisted
and wouldn’t let up till I turned my eyes just to see who might be staring at me.  It was then I realized that our little dog
Gabriella had fixed her eyes on me. When our eyes met she put her paw out and pulled my hand towards her to pet her. Immediately I
scooped her up and hugged her and tears came to my eyes.  In an instant the Lord spoke to my heart, “Keep your eyes on Me, never
take them off of Me.” “I will turn to you.”

Can I encourage you today to stare at Jesus, give Him your full attention and fix your eyes on Him! He will turn to you. it is His
good pleasure to have us reach out to Him and take His Hand, and to desire His gaze on us.

It seems that our dogs can be truly smitten by us doesn’t it? Sometimes our four legged friends can almost make a human being
feel like we are the most amazing, trustworthy person on planet earth! They’re unconditional love, devotion, and loyalty to our
every move, even when we don’t deserve it is humbling to say the least.

What God taught me through Gabriella that day was priceless. The One that created the universe, so amazing and trustworthy. The God who unconditionally loves me. He who is infinitely intimate with me desires my gaze. It is because of Jesus radical obedience to His Father  that you and I can fully look at God. This compels me to trust and obey and fix my eyes on Him, and keep them there till He
turns and draws me to Himself. How He loves you, How He longs to be gracious to you.

As our time together draws to a close, I would like to share with you a couple of thoughts that are not my own. They are from a Bible
study, entitled “Becoming What God Intended” by Dr. David Eckman we did here at Authentic Life Church. He taught that, when God looks at you He see’s His Son, and when He see’s His Son, He see’s you! The Bible says in Psalm 34:5 “Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

Have you looked to Jesus today? Your face will be radiant with joy!

Because of His Genuine Love,
Julie Bills
